Other technical solutions also ensured compliance with the Euro 4 standard. With Euro 5, on the other hand, virtually all manufacturers today agree that SCR (selective catalytic reduction) and its numerous advantages can ensure economical compliance with the more stringent Euro 5 emissions standards. 3. Payload comparable to viable competing solutions
The scope of the additional components and the extra weight associated with the technology is negligible. Essentially the only modifications required for BlueTec® are the additional tank for AdBlue and the larger silencers.

4. Optimal and clean combustion
Our experience with EGR technology demonstrated that the poorer combustion led to a significant increase in fuel consumption. An optimised combustion process with higher cylinder firing pressures and injection pressures not only results in extremely low particulate emissions but also cuts fuel consumption by up to 6%.

7. BlueTec® works with all brands of oil and fuel grades
You can continue to fill up your BlueTec® vehicle with your preferred diesel. And you can keep on using commercially available oils. Because BlueTec® does not place any restrictions on the diesel and oil grades which may be used.

8. On-board diagnostic system fitted
BlueTec® trucks are fitted with an on-board diagnostic system to monitor the entire BlueTec® diesel technology operating cycle. This ensures that your truck complies with the Euro 4 or Euro 5 emissions standard.

10. AdBlue is widely available
AdBlue is widely available throughout Australia from truck-stops and Mercedes-Benz truck dealerships, spare parts and accessories centres. The network of AdBlue refilling stations is steadily expanding. AdBlue tanks are available in different sizes to cater for all operations and in order to minimise impact on payload and vehicle application. To increase convenience, the refilling of diesel and AdBlue can take place at the same time.
