Annually, the Daimler Group, invests billion's in R&D activities worldwide with a portion of these funds dedicated to environmental protection. For us, innovation is a crucial way of building upon our technological leadership and producing products that contribute to our vision of environmentally sustainable forms of mobility.
When we are planning our new cars, we are also focused on considering what sustainable mobility of the future should look like. Three key areas form the basis of our sustainable Research and Development:
- Continuous improvement of internal combustion engines.
- Hybrid Drive system development.
- Fuel Cell development.
On a local level, Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd are a proud supporter of the Banksia Environmental Foundation. Our sponsorship of the Banksia Award's 'Australian Environmental Research Award' of $30,000, helps to recognise and promote Australian researchers or research programs that have made significant contribution to understanding, or resolving, local or global environmental problems. We congratulate the 2010 Australian Environmental Research Award environmental award winner, Beyond Zero Emissions whom in partnership with the University of Melbourne Energy Research Institute have crafted a roadmap for a new, sustainable energy system in Australia.
