The completely redesigned drive unit excels, on the one hand, with a fuel consumption that is lower than that of the previous model. On the other hand, its performance credentials have been given a significant boost thanks to direct injection and twin turbochargers with intercooling. A power output that has been increased to 320 kW, a substantially higher torque of 700 Nm on tap from just 1800 rpm, plus improved acceleration promise effortlessly superior motoring in every handling situation. More than ever before, the petrol engines of the S-Class now combine intensive driving pleasure and a high level of environmental compatibility.
The newly developed AMG V8 biturbo engine in the S 63 AMG is a compelling proposition thanks to a wealth of technological highlights, including direct petrol injection with spray-guided combustion and piezo injectors, twin turbochargers with air/water intercooler, four-valve technology with adjustable camshafts, alternator management and a start/stop function. They enable the V8 engine to generate highly impressive performance figures. Developing 400 kW and a peak torque rating of 800 Nm, the new S 63 AMG far surpasses its predecessor model and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. At the same time, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by over 25% to 10.6 l/100 km and 247 g/km.
