The E-Class with its new-generation 4-clyinder engine is particularly efficient. The development theme – higher performance and lower consumption – has been continued undeterred.

With the exhaust-gas turbocharger, it was possible to increase the efficiency of the 4-cylidner petrol engine considerably. As a result, the optimised 1.8 Otto-cycle engine with direct petrol injection and variable valve timing burn fuel particularly efficiently and thanks to factors including homogenous direct injection and increased compression, boast a higher output potential than the previous models. They already today comply with the increasingly stringent EU 5 limit levels in terms of consumption and emissions, in spite of which they continue to produce peak torque, power output, low noise levels and thanks to two balancer shafts, smooth operation. The E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has a rated output of 150 kW (204 hp) and a maximum torque of 310 Nm.

The E-Class Sedan is available with a 3.5-litre V6 engine: the E 350. This engine features, among other things, 4-valve technology.

Nominal torque is 350 Nm at 2400 -5000 rpm, the engine output is 200 kW (272 hp). This engine brings together driving refinement and the highest degree of agility and handling dynamism.

Concentrated power is packed into the 8-cylinder engine of the E 500. This engine delivers a powerful 288 kW (388 hp) at a maximum torque of 530 Nm.

The E 63 AMG boasts the most powerful engine. It is a thoroughbred sports engine, which delivers outstanding performance thanks to its high-speed concept and naturally aspirated engine design. It accelerates the E-Class from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds – that says just about everything.
