The safety concept of Mercedes-Benz supports the driver even during critical driving situations. Its active safety systems include the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®), the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Brake Assist (BAS), which activate in cooperation when necessary.
If the car is in danger of skidding, ESP® can apply the appropriate braking force to individual wheels and adjust the engine output. ABS ensures that the vehicle remains steerable during emergency braking. BAS recognises emergency braking by the speed with which the brake is applied and, in this case, instantly builds up the maximum braking force, thereby helping to reduce the stopping distance.
In addition, strong light provides excellent safety: bi-xenon headlamps are brighter than conventional halogen headlamps and improve visibility both directly in front of the vehicle and at a distance. When travelling at low speed and turning off into a driveway, for example, or parking, the additional cornering light function illuminates the road more effectively by activating either the left or right fog lamp.
Bi-xenon headlamps (fixed, not active) with cornering light function and headlamp cleaning system are standard with the EVOLUTION and EVOLUTION + packages.
