The majority of accidents start long before the actual collision: with a lapse in concentration, poor visibility or an unanticipated hazard. So we have fitted the new C-Class with safety systems which promote relaxed motoring and help you to bring critical situations under control.
The COMAND cockpit data management system with LINGUATRONIC voice activation[1] ensures that you can keep both hands on the steering wheel. When driving, you can also count on more than 60 electronic support systems. Some are designed to alert you in the event of a problem – the tyre pressure loss warning system, for example. Others are there to provide active assistance, such as the Electronic Stability Program ESP® and Brake Assist BAS. The ESP® and BAS sensors can detect hazardous driving situations – such as pronounced oversteer or understeer, sudden steering movements, emergency and panic braking – and can assist the driver accordingly.
The optional Intelligent Light System is new in the C-Class. The low-beam headlamps based on the bi-xenon headlamp system with active light function automatically adapts to the respective driving situation. For instance, the illumination is wider on a country road, while on motorways the range is increased significantly. The Intelligent Light System also features enhanced fog lamps as well as active light, which the headlamps use to follow the movement of the steering wheel and better light the road. Another feature is the cornering light function, which provides enhanced lighting when turning.
