The Mercedes-Benz School/Charter chassis of the 0 500 series has developed since its introduction to incorporate disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS)and electronic controlled air suspension (ECAS) with raise, lowering and kneeling functions.

The Mercedes-Benz 0 500R and 0 500U chassis are powered by the Mercedes-Benz OM 926, turbocharged, inter-cooled seven litre engine, using Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) principle to meet regulatory emission standards.

The 0 500R and 0 500U chassis can suit the daily requirements of the operator for both school and charter bus operations.
